Tagged!
Tagged (a while ago and we are delinquent in posting!)
Things that make me quirky (they only asked for 7, so....):
1. I don't like having my back to the aisle or door at a restaurant (like an old mafia boss!) I also prefer NOT to sit on aisles at church, at the movies, on planes, etc.
2. I have handi-wipes in my bag at all times and use them, well, at all times :)
3. When I eat something sweet I have to have something salty, too.
4. Speaking of salty food, when I eat peanuts, I eat the halves without the little bumps on them first, then the ones with the bumps and then the whole ones. If I have a lot of time on my hands, I split the whole ones and start the process over.
5. I have a hard time falling asleep with socks on.
6. I move my lips while I type on the computer or my Blackberry.
7. I don't like fresh pineapple, but I love when it's cooked in/on something.
I was also tagged by Momma in Waiting, so Terry, if you are reading this, I can't find your blog since your profile isn't visible. I have been on it before, but just can't find it right now!!! :P
I am now tagging:
Amy over at When Loves Takes You In
Jennifer at God Sees and Protects
Vivian over at Life with Kerri
Amy at Olivia Jibing
Tracy AND Adam over at Red Thread to China
Lisa at The Long Road to China
and my niece at A Latte Talk
Now, here's Lee, as he was included in the tag from Cara.

Here are 7 of my quirks:
1. I do a pretty good trumpet impression.
2. I have an uncanny ability to recall old TV shows...even shows you've probably never even heard of. (You mean you've never heard of Manimal?)
3. At any given time I am in the middle of reading 5 or 6 books...so, I have a hard time finishing them.
4. If I run across The Shawshank Redemption while flipping through the channels, I will watch it to the end.
5. I'm a sucker for kitchen gadgets.
6. I'm actually looking forward to driving a mini van.
7. I have a really hard time thinking of quirky things about myself.

Pray for Haiti and Other Ways You Can Help!
From Patricia and Philippe's orphanage:
At the Flip Flop Fleet, we have partnered with C3 Missions and sent them 438 pairs of flip flops, sandals, tennies and crocs. They are filling a semi of supplies for some of the hardest hit areas of Haiti. We are excited to help in some way. We also plan on taking shoes to the orphanage when we go.
Rent in Haiti is payable every 6 months and our share for the next 6 months comes to $14,400. If everyone who reads this would donate just $20, we would more than meet our goal. The deadline is November, so the time is now!
For HIS Glory is teaming up with CoffeeXperts.com to raise the money necessary to house and care for the children at the Maison des Enfants de Dieu orphanage for the next 6 months! If you go to http://www.coffeexperts.com/ to order your coffee, please make sure to enter coupon code "FHG" upon checkout so For HIS Glory gets credited.

Another way you can help:
Haiti was devastated this summer by 4 consecutive hurricanes. There is widespread destruction, rampant flooding and uncountable deaths. The orphange and the birth parents need our help! We are instituting an emergency food drive and need the following staples: spaghetti, rice, peanut butter, beans, tuna, powdered milk, formula, and other shelf staple items. We can only send food at this time and all donations must be received no later than November 1. Because of delays in customs and shipping times, we are also accepting monetary donations to implement immediate relief. Please help! All food donations must be sent to the following address:

Here is another story:
The weekend of September 19-21 Lee and I had my great-nieces and great-nephew over for the weekend to give Jenny some time to recover from minor surgery. We had a GREAT time with the kids. Here they are having breakfast:

A few weeks ago Matt and Jenny had us over for dinner. I was holding Isaac. I asked for a kiss and he came at me with his mouth kinda open so I said, "Isaac, look at my lips. Do it like this" and here is what he did:
Then this:
When he gave me a "puckered" kiss I said, "Ooh, I love it!" and he kissed me again. I said,
"I just love it!" and he did it again! This went on for a few more "I love its" and a few more kisses. It was so funny and sweet. Matt walked by and said that it was going to be on me that Isaac learned this! What are great-aunties for? Love on him, pinch his cheeks, kiss him and spoil him! :) I love this kid!

and I all played Uno Attack.

10 Year Anniversary
Today marks my 10 year anniversary with Entertainment Publications.
I love my job. I work with restaurants and attractions and sign offers for the Twin Cities and Madison editions. I work with businesses people go to in their free time.
I have a home office. I have friends (I call them my Entertainment family) all over the country. I am very blessed to work for such wonderful people for such a great family-friendly company, and I am proud to celebrate 10 years with them.

Upcoming Event (and a Shameless Plug)
I grew up in Dassel, MN, and graduated from Dassel-Cokato High School. Next Sunday, October 12, will be a sort of homecoming for me. Dawn and I were invited to sing at a fundraising event for the Dassel-Cokato Arts Association, a venue that has featured performances from the likes of Lorie Line, Gaelic Storm, and the Minnesota Orchestra.
All the performers at this event have D-C connections, so it should be fun. You can read all about it here.
This is also a good time to plug Dawn's CD. You have probably noticed from the sidebar that it's available for downloading, but we still have a stash of CDs that we need to get rid of to make room for the kids, so feel free to order one or two (or six or seven, you know, for Christmas presents). Keep in mind that all proceeds will go toward bringing our precious children home.
Thanks!

It's Finally Happening...
Some of the women in my February/March China YAHOO group got referrals this week! I shouldn't be surprised, but I guess it just doesn't seem real.
As far as I can tell the CCAA got through the 15th of February 2006 but since they took down the processing update off their site, our agency doesn't post it and Rumor Queen still has last month's info I am not 100%. Does anyone have this as solid info?
The China Adoption Forecaster is still projecting February 17, 2009 for our referral, so it didn't move up to January, but it didn't move BACK (something we are quite familiar with at this point) so we'll take that bit as good news.
