Haiti Adoption Update

Will post more when we know a bit more but for now we are just asking for prayer for "OPPeration Shelton Family" (O for Olivia and PP = Patricia and Philippe :) -- I just made that up! haha!). We have hit a few bumps in the road on the journey to our big kids, but we WILL NOT GIVE UP. We love our kids sooooo much.

Here are some verses my sister Janie emailed me today:

'I will direct your steps.' Prov. 3:5-6
'I have not given you a spirit of fear' 2 Tim 1:7
'I will supply all your needs' Phil.4:19
'I will never leave you or forsake you' Heb 13:5
'Cast all your cares on Me' I Pet. 5:7

For children to be languishing in orphanages when they are matched with families while other children are literally dying while waiting to get IN to orphanages, is just plain RIDICULOUS. The Haitian adoption process is more difficult than any other country that we know of (we are on the Board of Directors for the LYDIA Fund, so we talk to MANY adopting families, on top of the blogs and articles that we read, etc, etc). Please pray for the evil of that country to be bound. Pray that the hearts of officials processing our paperwork will soften. That laws will change for the better. Please pray that paperwork moves across desks and that children can come home to their families! We know people who are going on three years of waiting. Three years of a child's life is so very significant! Three MONTHS is significant. These kids all NEED TO COME HOME.

Oh sweetie. I do hope things change quickly. How much longer are you looking at waiting? I don't understand why they hold up this process..especially since your kids are matched with you!! I would be going insane!!

xoxo

Praying with you, for you, and for me/my family....and for all those waiting.

I really feel the oppressive nature of some parts of this process. Prayer is our weapon.

Happy to join with you.

Oh... enough all ready... I haven't known you since the whole Haiti adoption started so I am somewhat out of the loop... how long have you had the kids and how long have you been waiting... I hear that Haiti was bad with paperwork etc how you get the kids home soon though...

We found Patricia's picture on December 7, 2007 and started the process to them after that. (Found out about Philippe in February '08.) My mom became gravely ill in March and it took a while for us to send our dossier - sent July of 2008.

I couldn't have said it better myself...I just want all of these precious kids to be home. Know that God already has it in HIS hands, and those precious kids were meant from the beginning to be yours. He will find a way to bring P and P home to you, and G home to me...we have to keep believing. I am praying. Just think, at least you will get to hug them soon!

It is a crime that matched children would wait YEARS to be with a family waiting for them. You know we wait also, and we stand with you as we all trust in God who is sovereign and who is faithful to us and more importantly, to those children.

To think your stress in China must have been two fold! What beautiful children! That photo of all the children who received shoes makes my heart full. I want to reach through the screen and love them!
