P & P Update Photos!

Here are the most recent photos that we received of Patricia and Philippe.

There were families visiting Haiti while we were in China and our online friend, Katy, read the kids the letters we sent explaining that we were picking up their little sister. We have video of it. Katy also printed off pictures that we emailed from China, including this one.

The day of the video was Philippe's birthday and he seems pretty happy, but we were told that Patricia had a very hard time understanding why we weren't there. You can see in the video that she is not very responsive, but she often behaves that way when she is sad, taking in new information, or when she is the center of attention, and in the video it is all of the above.

We miss our kids so much and can't wait until they are here for good!

What a wonderful gift for you to have of your two older children! I am crying for those two little sweethearts. They seemed so confused, but probably because there seemed to be so much going on around them. I can't wait to see them with you as a forever family and I pray that happens very, very soon!

It's hard not being there.

Life is so complicated. You have such a beautiful family and we're all waiting and praying with you for the day to come when you're all home together. What a blessing that your friend was able to be there for P's birthday.

How awesome that you got that video. And I can totally understand Patricia, as I enjoy being the center of attention, too ;-)

Yes, they do seem very confused. I wish we could explain it all. That video makes me bawl!! I am so grateful we have that moment captured, though, and am so appreciative to Jaime and Katy who took the time to do all of that.

It was awesome to see all your kids together, even if it was in photos. I'm so glad P & P got to see the photos of their little sister! (They have much the same expression my older brother had the day my parents brought ME home) :-)

I'm so glad you have this precious video of the kids!

Karen, that is a good point! My brother, who was 6 and a half when I was born told my mom that if she had a girl he would throw me in the garbage. Then, the first time he held me, she asked if he still wanted to do that and he slowly shook his head no. I am sure when P and P meet O they will love her like we all do!

That was a very special moment and P & P will some day understand how long you waited for all of you to be together!! I hope that things speed up and you are together as soon as possible!!

Thinking of you!!

Oh, this is tough to watch. The poor kids look so confused. I can almost feel Patricia trying to process what's going on. I can't imagine trying to understand such a thing at their ages with all those eyes watching and waiting for their reaction! Dawn, I have been so impressed by the beautiful scrapbook pages you've sent down for the kids. What a treasure for them to love always. You've really inspired me to get something like that going myself... Man, I really can't wait 'til your children are all at home. I keep picturing you all together and it just makes me smile. Lord, make it so ASAP, please!

Dawn, you might have noticed that I almost bawled when this video was being taken. I actually DID bawl when I thought that we weren't going to be able to make it to the O at all. I still feel badly that my camera was so uncooperative. Looking back at all my photos from the porch that afternoon, I am now wondering if it may have been the lighting. I tried to get them inside, or the other kids inside, so that this could be private, but it just didn't work out. It is SO chaotic there....and I was overwhelmed myself! So many kids want your attention at once.
And Yes, they were confused....I had one of the older girls translating, but as you can tell, it was quite hard to hear...their whole "family" was chiming in. =O I will tell you that one day, they will understand. And they already know now that you love them...they do. They will love their baby sister too. I have a few extra pics of Patricia from a different day that are better...she followed me around to the toddler/baby rooms borrowing my camera. I will send you the Snapfish link now...my life has been so busy and chaotic since I got home that I forgot I never sent them.

Ahhh, poor little guys. They look so over whelmed & confused. All the kids, noise, cameras, photos they look in shock.

I hope your two little ones are home soon and your family is intact.
