Waiting on Haiti

When we got the call on August 6 that we had "First Legal" (the first step) after only a few weeks I thought that maybe our Haiti adoption wouldn't take as long as all the horrible things we have heard. But when it is the end of September now and we are still waiting to enter IBESR (step 2) we don't even know what to think. Please don't tell us, "The Lord will bring your kids home in His timing" - this we know. What we know and what we feel and what we want don't always line up.

Dawn,
I definitely feel your pain..I waited from mid-April (first legal) until the end of August to enter IBESR due to several delays. I'm not trying to discourage you, b/c it usually doesn't take that long, but I just wanted to let you know that I totally understand how hard it is to keep waiting and waiting without any way of knowing WHEN you can move forward. Praying for you!!

this adoption has been the single most difficult "wait" I have ever endured in my entire life (and I'll be 45). So many things are hinging on bringing Asher home. And needless to say, I just want him home...nothings been fast about the process. I believe we waited 2 months to get in IBESR...then an difficult 9 months to get out. We are currently in parquet and I'm trying not to have expectations on the system...But I earnestly seek God everyday for His hand to be evident. God is so good and He is faithful...I do understand! I'm so sorry, Dawn. I'm praying for you. On our orphanage's info packet it says 1-4 weeks to enter IBESR after First Legal. But I have noticed that it usually does take longer. It took us 3 months to enter, but we had to have DNA testing which should not be an issue for you.

I do have some good news, though, in case you haven't heard already... A new director was appointed to IBESR early this week. This means they should be accepting new dossiers and signing out old ones again. We were told that no files could enter or exit til a new director was appointed, so we should start seeing movement again any day now!

Hey, I just realized that your kids are two "Ps" in a Shel(ton!) :)

Hey Babe, you don't have to feel good about this process all the time.

And, you can know God's in control and even feel that God's in control, but that doesn't mean you're going to like the way the God-controlled waiting is feeling. I don't think those things are at all in opposition to each other.

Glad you can pour out your heart on this here blog. Love you SO much.

I know I wouldn't enjoy waiting to tuck them in, waiting to assure them that the thunder is just loud, waiting to teach them about Jesus, waiting to pop popcorn and watch their first movie with you, waiting to take them shopping, waiting to fill their bellies with delicious food, waiting to have a freshly bathed child who smells so good you bury your nose in their hair, waiting to put band-aids on scraped knees, waiting to make sure everyone's buckled in and has their church bag, waiting to hear them say, "mama" and "daddy"...

There's a lot you're waiting for. I will pray for grace and strength for tomorrow for you.

We exited First Legal back in April in STILL aren't in IBESR! I am so frustrated!!! So, all that to say that I can totally relate. And I really understand that while we know it is all in "God's timing", it sure doesn't make it any easier or less painful. You have my support and prayers!

It's the little things in between the steps that really seem to add up. It seems like the process should be seamless and that you should just go from one step to the next but you don't. It makes the process much longer because of that. Know you're not alone in feeling like your documents must be lost in some deep dark abyss.
